2001 Vauxhall Astra window wipers not working

Window wipers not fully working on intermittent they wipe half way up windscreen then stop then stay there, then judder on next speed up then both wipers clash on speed up after that? When i turn them off they do not go back down they stop anywhere on windscreen then its a struggle to get them back down again! Very frustrating - any ideas would be a great help - Cheers

Sounds like you need a new wiper motor, easy and cheap to find at a scrapyard
