2003 Vauxhall Astra display light says on when ignition is switched off

Radio is not working - "safe" does not appear on display after battery reconnection. However, the display unit remains lit when the ignition is turned off-causing the battery to go flat.

had this on an 07 model removed audio had master reset (small button )on back may be worth looking .our one worked fine afterwards.
