2001 Vauxhall Astra smoky engine

timing belt snapped got recon head had it put on car now thick clouds of smoke when reving eng seems to idel fine and rev smooth just thick smoke mec thinks piston damage but im not so sure as it runs and idels fine has any one else had this prob been told might be cracked in valve guide or valve stem oil seals ps eng goes down to three cyl when left to idel for a while smoke stops but i think this is due to plug being cloged with oil would app any help thanx

with your belt snaping you will have done more damage then you may think ie piston damage or damaged valve guide first thing to eliminate the pistons i would have them compression tested this will rule out any damage done due to the belt snaping but i readings are all good and equal then can only be the valve guides that have suffered damage but see what results you get after the compression test and go from there
