when i put my car in 1st gear and apply rev's, my car make a whinning noise, like it does when a car is in reverse? any ideas? cheers

any whining noises would be due to wear but have you tried replacing the oil in the box this some times helps but sounds like you will need a replacement box or have the one you have refurbed
