Engine cutting out

2005 Vauxhall Astra 1.7 cdti van
Car: Vauxhall Astra
Year: 2005

First time the engine cut out after a 25 Mile drive, then wouldn't start, left for 10 minutes and started and ran ok. Engine now cutting out after 4 to 5 miles, leave it for a few minutes and off I go again, problem getting worse.

Thanks for the quick response, just fitted a new fuel filter. Is the crank sensor a big job or an expensive garage job
