2010 Vauxhall Astra cooling fan

The cooling fan runs all the time. Have tried to remove the switch but this is part of the fan cowling and although slides up and down in housing can't get it out to check and replace it. Any suggestions please.

Just unplug it and plug in a new sensor loose to see if the fan stops.
But memory tells me the fan is controlled by the ECU which in turn is controlled by the coolant temperature sensor on the right side top of the engine.
