You tried getting it regassed ? Kwik fit do an aircon regass check where the don't charge if it doesn't fix it or something like that .Many other possible causes as you can see here ,

The compressor doesn't start if its not gassed. this is most likely due to a hole in your condenser. Astra suffer from breaking condensers for some reason. Few people i know have had to change theirs again 2-3 years after having it replaced.
