Vauxhall Astra surges when changing up box

Diesel Van surges by about 400 Revs when going from 1st to 2nd, then 300 Revs going from 2nd to 3rd, 200 revs going from 3rd to 4th, and it's normal when going up into Top. Car runs fine otherwise with no smoke or hesitation. Modifying my driving technique to allow revs to die before changing gear. Still a nuisance though.
