If you replaced a part of the pump it would still be using a worn pump, and may break again but if you buy a new one, you get a warranty on the new part.

can anybody tell me how much a fuel injection pump is fo a astra 2 litre it is year 2000/01 can you get a recon unit and is it easy enough to fit

If you buy one brand new it will cost upto £800, get a recon one for about £300 or £80 for a second hand one. If you get it changed you are advised to get the cambelt changed because it is took off in the process. The whole thing is not really difficult but is time consuming.
