how do you prime the oil pump on the astra

I usually separate the pump and pack it with NEW petroleum jelly.
Keep a tub specially for this with the lid well sealed.
Only problem is when I go to my local chemist and buy the biggest tub I can find.
Some of the looks I get!!!
Anyhoo/
Prime the pump,
remove plugs or glow plugs and spin the engine over on the key for 15+ seconds.
Light should go out if not repeat.
