Vauxhall Astra loses power for a spilt second at about 2000 revs

I have a 2.0 litre CDTI Astra GTC, it was running like a dream but now I'm experiencing an issue with it. When I put my foot down, at about 2000 revs it loses power for a spilt second then it suddenly returns. It's like there's a blockage or something like that for a moment then it disappears, this happens in any gear but only when I put my foot down.
A mechanic changed the fuel filter for me, I noticed an immediate difference, however about 4 weeks later the problem returned so I'm really not sure what the root cause of this issue is.
