2007 Vauxhall Astra just had new gear box fitted won't come out of fourth gear

Should be down to garage that fitted new box to solve the fault and not put onus on customer .If scanned with proper diagnostic equipment , should show what problem is .

What Engine And Gearbox. this can either be linkages or replacement gearbox itself.

I had a similar problem before with my automatic Astra 1.8, it would climb to the forth gear as normal and then get stuck in the fourth gear and not go back down. Using the manual mode worked fine but in automatic it'd get stuck again. The problem turned out to be a faulty sensor which was causing the problem and not the gearbox (as I had first dreaded due to the cost of replacing), so took it to a local auto-electrician who fixed it for around £200 (although it was cheaper than Vauxhall service center or Halfords who have to send it to an external auto-electrician as they don't have their own and add their own costs on I think it could have been cheaper if I'd looked around). Anyways he replaced the sensor and tuned the on board computer and voila it was back to working as normal!!

So if anyone else has this problem out there it might be worth checking that first.
