Squeaking from wheel area

2002 Vauxhall Astra 1.6 sxi
Car: Vauxhall Astra

hi guys

i got a squeak from somewhere on the front wheel area. i had a similar problem before which turned out to be the backing plate but this is a different squeak.

basically if i turn left i can here this sound, sounds a bit like a bird, not loud but of a high pitched sound. the pads are like new and the backing plate is not rubbing and doesnt make a sound turning right.

also i have noticed it slowing down from approx 15mph to 0 and speeds up regards to speed.

i got it in my head to look at the bearing but it aint that old. so is there anything else to check before having a look at the bearing yet again as i know aftermarket ones arnt as good as OE stuff.

cheers

will

Generally a droning noise would be caused by a worn bearing, your noise could be caused by a small stone or foreign object lodged behind the inner pad or backplate,if it is a rotational noise,I would check this first by stripping things down and inspection.also if it,s cheap pads thief can squeal ,you can overcome this by using special compound grease that dampen the squeal,it,s blue in colour and work,s a treat.hope this helps you as there,s nothing worse .
