2000 Vauxhall Astra drowning noise

Hi I've just bought an x reg vauxhall Astra it has 12 months mot on it but every time I reach 30 or 40 mph I can hear a drowning noise coming from the inside of my Binet somewhere as I go faster it gets louder when I slow down it gets quieter any ideas what it may be ?

It may be the wheel bearing.
