2000 Vauxhall Astra rear lights

Year: 2000
Variant: 1.6 hatchback

When I have side lights on and press footbrake nothing happens. If I don't have side lights on and press brake pedal it's rearly bright is the stop and tail light bulb.same as when brake and side lights on together.put new bulbs in and still the same.Can anybody help me please I am not up to date with electrical problems.Thanks.

Sounds like you either have wrong bulbs or are fitted incorrectly .Usually double contact bulbs .

Agree with whittinghame as to bulb issue single contact instead of double contact.

Av done that,still same.checked wiring,and brake switch,both ok.its like,I've got my brakelights on all the time,and when put rear side lights on,no different.stays dead bright.
