I posted a question on a power steering rack replaced on vauxhall Astra 2009 and after replaced when turning of the engine it sounds like the power steering motor is running on for a few seconds.

The power steering on your car is driven by an electrical motor eps and it would be normal to hear it power down after switching off the engine,However if it runs on for more than a couple of seconds then this may indicate an alternator issue as it draws it,s power supply from there.Chances are the system is working as it should if it was not working correctly before.

All our family cars have EHPS and none run on when switched off , they stop instantly .This applies to different makes also that I've driven / worked on .Never heard of this happening before , so asked another garage owner / friend who I was out with , if he had come across it before either . He hadn't came across it before .Always willing to learn , so would be interested in hearing of any others who have experienced this and the remedy . As the car was not doing this with the original rack , would seem to me that the fault has been introduced on the replacing of rack and garage should be fixing it .If this was carried out by Vauxhall dealership and not getting satisfaction , let garage know you are getting on to Customer Services to complain .
