2000 Vauxhall Astra oil leak from head gasket

Car: Vauxhall Astra
Year: 2000
Variant: 1.6 8v
Categories: Leaks & Noises
I have noticed oil leaking from the head gasket and on the inside of oil filler cap there is a white gunk! Would replacing the head gasket solve this problem? Any help would be great!

It may solve both issues it would depend on the condition of the old gasket. But if it,s leaking oil it,s going to need done at some point.

White gunk on filler cap is very common on that and other vauxhallas .People wrongly assume the head gasket , but it is usually perfectly normal if not losing water or overheating etc .Is the oil coming from the head gasket or cam box cover ?

P.s
A while back a family member had a newer model of Astra and I could take the filler cap off and lift dollops of emulsified oil with my finger , but just condensation with that engine ,Did hear from a friend a cure for it which apparently works , but car changed before I got round to doing it .
