2001 Vauxhall Astra oil light keeps flickering on / off

I've noticed there is black sludge in the water and seems to be getting worse. Would it cause the oil light to flicker on and off, I've checked the oil dip stick and it is ok and is at agood level, can any help

Could be the oil cooler causing oil in water . Might be worth changing oil pressure switch .

Maybe the oil pump misfiring
