2006 Vauxhall Astra engine cutting out

Hi this problem started a couple of weeks ago. My car started to randomly cut out when driving. The distance varies from 5 miles to 15 miles before this happens. The engine cuts out the electrics are still working that's it. The light with the car and spanner in it comes on and so does the battery light. The abs light intermittently flashes also. When I try to start the car again all the electics come on and all the head up display but the car doesnt even turn over, its as if the engine isn't there and it empty under the bonnet. Then suddenly I will try again and it will start up fine. It could go another 5-10 miles before it foes again but it drives fine in brtween. I have changed crank sensor, thermostat as someone thought its over heating and cutting out. I just don't know what to do?? Any ideas much appreciated.
