2002 Vauxhall Astra deep grumbling sound most obvious 50-60 mph

Car: Vauxhall Astra
Year: 2002
Variant: 1.6 16v sxi
Categories: Steering, Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & Tyres
hi guys got a slight issue with my astra 1.6 16v sxi. please bare with me coz this is difficult to explain clearly. i am hearing a low deep grumbling sound most prominent at 50 - 60 mph. i have checked the wheels off the ground for play but there was none for all 4 wheels. the car doesn't wander, the tyres are all good so im completely stumped to what to look at next. the sound doesn't change speed with dropping down a gear so i know it aint engine. i can feel this sound through the accelerator peddle and in the car in general. i aint hit any kerbs or damaged the wheels in any way. the sound just started within the week. any pointers will be great. thanks

Wheel bearing .

Have to agree with above. You often can`t feel any play in the wheel itself but its sounds like the bearing by your description

ok thanks for the replys guys, another question, what wheel bearings do i need coz i was looking on ebay and eurocarparts and im a bit confused with the different options. my car has 4 stud wheels and dont av abs, so i take it i need the wheel bearings without abs sensors, if this is correct can someone tell me coz i read something about speed sensors and its getting to technical 4 me now lol.

Yup, see what you mean Will. Just had a look on the Euro car parts web site. I would first get someone to confirm which wheel it is ( unless you know already), then give Euro car parts a ring with your reg number etc. and i`m sure they will fix you up with the right parts. They are usually very good (I don`t work for them by the way!!! lol)
Best of luck
