Diesel not getting to the injectors, fuel at the filter. i live in a rural area far from a garage , on benefit (knee op), and it seems i can only find the problem having it plugged in to a diagnostic machine. the problem arose after i stalled the car (it was going fine up to that point)

You might have fuel up at the filter but it might not be getting from filter to injectors . Try bleeding injectors .

I would also check your fuel pump is getting power ,or do you know a friendly mechanic that would check what codes are logged.
