i have a astra when i turned the key nothing started ajnd when i take the keys out my ingnition lights are still on

Most likely a faulty ignition switch
Try disconnecting it your lights should go off.

mankypaws is right at the back of the ignition is the electric side of it this is the falty part this part can be replaced without replaceing the rest of the ignition
