2001 Vauxhall Astra cam shaft knicking

When starting my car the cam shaft knocks,can anyone tell me how much approx this will cost to repair

If it's only doing it at start up , could be a lubrication / pressure fault .Best to lift cam cover and visually check to confirm if worn or not .

That would depend upon what is the cause of the noise if it,s hydraulic tapper noise or a worn camshaft ,it could be quite expensive ,Is it just from cold start up, if so some noise is acceptable or is it a constant noise,It,s not the 3 cyl,is it ?Because there prone for timing chain noise,you can buy cheap kit,s on eBay but it,s a bit of a strip down to fit.but I have done a couple and the result was good.chain kit,s normally 60 then there would be labour to fit.

Just to say it,s more than likely top end as it,s a 1.6 and you could try a flush and oil and filter change first before any major work.
