1998 Vauxhall Astra speedo not working

i have just bought the car to find the speedo doesn't work i need to know if its a cable or a sensor and also if it runs with a fuse and where the fuse is.

check around the diff area on box .if its a cable you will see one going into the box around this area if its via a sensor you should see an electrical connector into a transducer in the diff. hope this points you in the right direction
