I would assume that they have checked the box fluid level? In case it,s low ,and gear linkage .and are c.v. Joints all ok.thats all I can think of at the moment .

mine is suffering from the same problem, was teaching nephew the basics of driving, lots of kangaroo'ing later and the gears 'cut out'
the car will not move at all, no gear can be selected and will not drive.
ive checked selector linkages and all that is fine, the actuator is moving in and out of the gearbox when the gear lever is activated yet there is no drive.
there is no noise whatsoever, no grinding clunking rubbing, no difficulty getting lever into gear positions as is the case with a duff clutch.
nothing.....
engine is fine and starts first time, yet it is like there is no gearbox/clutch there at all
its not the shafts as they are fine and its not the oil either, the oil is fine just as it was before lessons began
is there a switch somewhere on the gearbox?????
