Cannot get it into gear

I have to put my foot on the brake after starting the car to put it into gear. But the button on the gear stick is not going in so cannot put it in gear.

try replacing the automatic geabox oil

My astra drives fine for about an hour with no gear shift problems then all of a sudden I can't select any gear ?? Been told gear box and clutch are fine but it happens while driving. Any ideas please ??
