2008 Vauxhall Astra engine coolant temperature??

Car: Vauxhall Astra
Year: 2008
Variant: 1.6 Life Z16XER
Categories: Leaks & Noises
Hi all, I'm new here.
Got a concern about my astra regarding the coolant temperature. Once engine is warm, it sits around 99 & 102 degrees on motorwaya or A roads. If I drive around town its usually a bit lower, if sitting in traffic it will go a little higher as expected, fan speed 1 cuts in around 103 and fan speed 2 at around 108. Been told that these modern engines run higher for lower emissions and efficiency (hence vauxhall removing the normal dial gauge for worried owners like myself), so been told these temperatures should be normal for this engine type. But I'm really not sure. Coolant and oil level see fine, all hoses warm up and heater works fine too. Car has done 46000, 08 reg.
Thanks

Sounds perfectly normal to me.

Hi Tony,

The temperatures you're listing are perfectly normal for this engine.
My 1.6 z16xer (2008) is exactly the same. You obviously know how to access the diagnostics by holding down settings until the bleep, then BC to scroll through. If you have any more questions I will do my best to find the answers, I have some very keen astra fanatic friends. Take a look at www.wmvx.co.uk. It's a vauxhall owners club based in the west mids. You can find useful help there too.
