2000 Vauxhall Astra engine cuts out

hi i hope somebody can help, my astra has started cutting out when revs drop to idle, the car wont start unless i put foot on throttle, engine management light is on when running, a fault code come up with air flow sensor replaced that and seems to have made the problem worse as now its constant had id plugged in again and now it wont let a diagnostic kit read anything.
