No power under load and wereing/parping noise on higher revs

2003 Vauxhall Astra 1.6 SXI
Car: Vauxhall Astra
Year: 2003
Variant: 1.6 SXI
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
I had an oil leak from a split rocker cover gasket, which was going for a while, 2 days ago the power dropped out so had the gasket fixed.
no oil leak now but still now power.
when i say this i mean its slow to accelerate.
no management lights or codes, tick over fine.
no shaking at spead just low power and a wereing noise on higher revs.
it sounds a bit like when a tire is rubbing against something but again this is from the engine and only on higher revs.
had the exhaust checked as thought this maybe the issue, but that apparently is fine.
does anyone have an idea

Another thought, having a look last night. the air intake pipe, if this had a slight crack and was leaking air, would this effect performance and creat a noise on higher revs?
