Vauxhall Astra engine tapping & cuts out when warm

The problem I have is when you start the engine you get a constant tapping noise from the engine. When the engine gets warm it starts to cut out and the engine management light comes on. Could anyone please help me thanks.

You may have 2 unrelated problems here.
Astra`s need top quality oil and regular oil changes as the tappetts are hydraulic, so the noise you are hearing could be the tappetts sticking. An oil change and an engine flush may help depending on how bad it is.
To get the second problem sorted it may be better to get a garage to plug it in to the diagnosis unit to bring up a fault code, so they then no where the problem lies.
