1997 Vauxhall Astra engine revving up & down

mk3 1.4 cfi single-point injection.
when starting from cold if i dont come to a complete stop to let the engine idle for about 30secs after the engine is warm the revs are high(2000-3000rpm) and sometimes revving up and down. the eml came on then went out again a couple of times, had it read but it showed no faults. the car drive fine it just dose it on idle i have to let it idle for 30secs after its warm before it settles down to normal tick over and then its ok, this all seemed to start after using a fuel injector cleaner. could this of damaged a sensor? was thinking of just getting a s/h carb to see if that would fix it.
any ideas would be much appreciated, thanks

check for air, vacuum, breather leaks first and go from there

Idol speed control valve needs cleaning. Moooore than likely i had the same problem on my galaxy 2000.
