2004 Vauxhall Astra water hose failure

hose connection to top of water pump failed whilst driving causing loss of coolant and subsequent damage to cylinder head.
This apparently is due to a bad design fault using a plastic fitting to connect hose to water pump-I believe that replacements are now being supplied with metal fixings requiring the pump casing to drilled and tapped
