2005 Toyota Corolla engine noise only when accelerator presses

When the accelerator is pressed a whirring sound is heard. As soon as the foot is off the accelertor peddle the sound dissappears. It has got louder the last couple of days. Any advice is appreciated.

If this vehicle has a turbo it could well be that making a noise, best get it checked out
