1999 Toyota Avensis temperature gauge on high

When travelling on motorway at above 60mph, or when accelerating hard uphill, temp gauge rises to almost hot. Running around town or under 60mph temp gauge shows normal. I have renewed thermostat. Mileage is 87K. Any suggestions very welcome

the most likly is a partialy blocked radiator check whole rad is hot . it is quite common for rad to start blocking around your milage
