1997 Toyota Avensis noise when easing up accelerator

i have noticed a annoying noise which has got really bad over the last couple of days. it seems to mainly happen when i ease of the accelerator. it is like a currrrrrrr sound. i am wondering whether it could be a wheel bearing that has worn?????
