2004 Toyota Avensis power steering

Car: Toyota Avensis
Year: 2004
Variant: 1.8 T3 S
Categories: Steering, Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & Tyres
Hi,

When driving on motorway and making slight adjustments in steering the power steering pressure is uneven. So if you make a small adjustment there is high pressure then low pressure. So its 'hard' then once you go through that 'pressure' point the steering loosens such that you over steer.

I am thinking that I should check the power steering fluid levels firstly? If ok, then a flush and new fluid? Is it possible to test pump pressure?

Thanks for your advice in advance.

Regards,

Bryce

Depending on year but some of those cars are fitted with Electric Power Steering (EPS) .If yours is different , check PAS fluid level as you suggest .
