when I turn on the heating in my car it smells of rotten eggs (Sulphurous) i thought it could be down to the battery at first but when i put it onto a cold setting the smell is no longer produced

Usually, rotten egg smells are related to a catalytic converter problem.
Get someone to rev the car while you stand at the back to see whether the smell is present.

If you are only getting the smell when you turn on the heater most likely to be heater matrix leaking .

Giving it more thought , it may also be your battery if the alternator is overcharging .

Are your headlight,s flickering ,if so then could be charge issue or speed sensor on steering rack faulty.
