normally my car starts fine, if it hasnt been used for an hour or more. but, say if i go to a petrol station and turn off the engine for a couple of minutes, it has problems starting again.
it will turn over just fine, but it won't catch to get going properly. normally, if this happens i leave it a couple of minutes then try again, and after turning over quite a bit it will just about start. but today it keeps turning over but won't start at all.
unfortunately i have no idea about cars so any advice will be massively appreciated.

Hmmmmm, are you trying to start the car with your foot down on the accelerator pedal? Sounds like its getting intermitantly flooded. Any more info?

no, i thought of that the first time it happened. so i made sure not to touch the accelerator before trying to start the car, even tried letting the engine tick over for a little while before turning the engine off to ensure that it wasn't flooded... still wouldn't start after.

Is your car fuel injected?

CHeck to see if the alternatior plugs are firmly conected and try if not disconnect your battery take the alternator of and try sanding don any corrosion or particles of grime of the metal pins and put it back on in exat same place as before reconnect battery and try startign it again might take a few trys but should get going if not check the battery power % my car would not start even when battery was at 50% so try that and let me now what happens
