Boot will not unlock

Hi can anybody please help?
My boot will no longer open - when i press the boot unlock button on my key fob the lights on the back of the car dont light up.
The door unlock/lock absolutely fine.
I have tried holding the unlock button down for a few seconds till the windows open and that used to work and open the boot but doesnt now.
Does anyone know what the issue could be and how to fix it?
