1999 Rover 600 overheating

my car radiator is overheating but temp gauge shows normal changed thermostat and new radator cap. my radator boiles like a kettel

sounds like 2 things firstly you may have a serious headgasket problems hence the boiling over or could be simple thing like a air lock in the engine / radiator run the car up to temp and put the interior fan on to screen and full power and remove the radiator cap but do have hot water ready to top up as the water drops do and you will get rid of any air locks that you may have in the system

Probably going to be head gasket, very common on rovers but do try and bleed it first, there is a manual bleed point on the gearbox side of the engine and there is sometimes in the top of the radiator at the same side
