1999 Rover 45 car turning over but not starting - with a continual high pitched alarm inside the engine?

Car: Rover 45
Year: 1999
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Dear All,

The car is turning over ok but is not catching at all... When looking inside the engine compartment I can hear a high pitched noise, which I assume is some sort of alarm?

Any idea please.

All the Best

Dont know if this from Rover forum on starting fault applies . Could try jump start and see .

" The only thing I've had which was similar was a run of 45's with weak batteries. They seem to turn over Ok but if the voltage drops below 9 volts on cranking it kicks the immobilser in. "

Best I can do to help .

It appears, according to the RAC my ECU needs replacing. Can anyone tell me if I need to reset the ECU with any code...

I've ordered an ECU online, which should arrive tomorrow - is it a garage or DIY fit?

Thanks again.

you need to take it to garage and get it programmed using the latest testbook and software
