2001 Rover 45 battery

I have had problems starting my car for the past few days and tonight it will just not start. when i try to start it it just sounds like a woodpecker is inthe engine and well not show any signs of starting. Could this be the battery??

Battery flat and the noise you hear is the solenoid clicking .Could check all battery terminals and earths , also wiring / cable at starter motor . Get battery charged and tested , also alternator . Could try a jump start .
