when i charge my battery i lock up and try it the next day the battery has lost a bit but there's a whistling in the bonnet next day flat

If battery going flat overnight after charging , either dud cell in battery or something draining it . Get battery tested .Don't have enough info about "but there's a whistling in the bonnet ". If it's when engine running , it could be alternator which could affect battery .
