2015 Renault Twingo engine wont start and engine locks solid, but it does turn backwards

the car had been sitting for two months , then went to start and it locked, click click its not the battery, even if you try and tow it the engine locks solid,
jacked it up and you can turn the engine backwards but will not go forwards .
it was running and driving fine its only done 20000 miles,

i put a new battery on it, the engine locks

Hi, did you ever solve the problem, our Twingo has done this three times now when we go away for a couple of weeks or more, when we come back the engine is locked solid. I have on two occasions managed to rock the car back and forth in gear and it has freed it, but this time we are having to have the car collected and taken to a garage.
It’s not the battery either as we also put a new one on the car to try it.

yes it was the alternator that seize solid , i put a knackle bar on the pully and rocked backward and forwards and it freed . unbelievable to think that it could lock the engine solid, ive had the alternator stripped down and cleaned , and its been fine ever since. this is a spare car so we dont offen use it.
