2004 Renault Scenic message says check injection and service light on

Our Renault scenic diesel sometimes upon starting displays the message check injection and the service light comes on. It drives as normal ie perfect. Message and service light goes off after a while, and message is intermittent. Any ideas?

This could be any number of route causes. The same light comes on but a unique fault code will be registered in the ECU log. You need to visit a mechanic who has a diagnostic reader, this doesn't necesarily have to be a Renault dealer although the official Renault "Clip" system will be able to draw better and more detailed info from the ECU.

just to let everyone know, fault was a broken glow plug. I checked each plug for continuity and found one broken-replaced all four and now no messages and perfect. Cost £30.
