2003 Renault Scenic stalling

Car: Renault Scenic
Year: 2003
Variant: 1.6 auto
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
The engine will stall after running for some time. The problem is fuel. The fuel tank develops a vacuum and then when the engine is idling at lights or roundabout will stop. The remedy is to get out open the fuel cap whence the engine will immediately restart. That solves the problem but does not cure the fault. There must be a breather pipe from the tank, the question is, where on earth is it?

Think it's more likely to be idle air control valve .Dont agree with your petrol tank vacuum theory , though you may be right . The breather hoses/ pipes are normally on top of tanks and/or on filler neck pipe .

Definitely a vacuum, when the cap is released a large intake of air is heard.

The intake of air is normal , get it every time I put fuel in my own car .( not a Renault )
