Ok I brought car last may for £950. Looked ok like they do years mot but since I've spent £200 getting coils done then all fine till mot feb just break bit welding through great then had new matrix fitted then new fan belt then needed new water pump cam belt £650 in total only to be told 6 weeks later head gasket now on way out . But said it's about £600 . I've spent so much money on it don't know if just to count loses and scrap it or get it repaired . If repaired does anyone know anyone that could do it cheap . I'm Brighton

Dont know who has been repairing your car , but in my opinion costs seem excessive , unless you are using a Renault main dealer and Renault parts .You should be able to get repairs done a lot cheaper from an independant garage using parts from motor factors etc .I would get the cyl. head gasket tested first to see if it is leaking and if so , a second estimate of cost .If it is leaking and you dont want to spend a lot , you could use STEELSEAL . http://www.steelseal.co.uk/index.asp. Some people swear by it others dont like using it .Hope this helps you decide what to do .

Yes just a indepant garage quoted me that . I've put a similar
Stuff that goes in coolant don't know if works and only done yesterday. Can tell gasket gone as water was brown in coolant . Maybe I ring around see if can get cheaper quote as it's good car apart from the head gasket

Water will be brown due to overheating and should be flushed out till clear before doing anything on cooling system . If it was a rad sealer like Radweld you put in car , no use for head gasket leaking .
