2000 Renault Scenic gearbox does not get to 3rd or 4th

The car will not engage 3 rd or 4th gear and sticks in 2nd gear on journey lights are coming on the dash now and I do not know what the problem could be. Any suggestions

Could be low on ATF , but probably best to get it scanned and see what shows .
