2005 Renault Scenic can't get into gear when engine cold

Car: Renault Scenic
Year: 2005
Variant: grand scenic 1.9D
Categories: Steering, Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & Tyres
This is an intermittent fault which has been going on for 12 months, normally worse in cold weather but now happening every day even in hot July
Only ever happens first thing in morning ie when it's been sitting overnight.
I can't get gear when the engine is running, if i switch the engine off then i can select any gear, once i have been driving for a couple of minutes i am able to change gears (with a lot of force)and then after 5-10 mins it is back to normal. every time it goes to the garage it doesn't do it!so far it has had new clutch, new dual mass fly wheel, new master cylinder and new slave cylinder - but to no avail - any suggestions welcome as the garage doesn't seem to have a clue!!

Could try changing gearbox oil . Here are some people with similar problem and a walkthrough with pictures on changing oil .

Hope this helps , as you seem to have replaced all the usual parts that would nornally cause this fault .Looks like you must have spent a fortune on repairs .

I am having the same issue here now. Grand sceninc 06 plate 103k miles 1.5 diesel. 6 speed gearbox. I have changed the gearbox oil and made not difference or whatsover.
Could it be the clutch?
I dont want to spend loads of mo ey on it and then still have the same issue.
Thanks

The most strange thing happened with this car. I changed a few months back the gearbox oil and made no difference at all. Then a couple of days ago i went to start the car just after i used it 1 hour before and the starter mottor just got burnt out (literally smoke coming out of the bonnet) I bump started and took it to the garage where they replace the starter motor at £140
Then all of the sudden this morning the gear box goes smoothly in and out of every gear.
I cant see any reason why any of the two faults can be linked but the gearbox is working fine after the change of the starter mottor
