2000 Renault Scenic car will not start

Car: Renault Scenic
Year: 2000
Variant: 1.6 16v RT
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
somebody please help... almost 4 weeks ago my scenic broke down. the AA recovered me home, having identified a fuel pump problem. i took it to my local(and usually reliable) garage where they confirmed the fuel pump was just alive enough to feed the engine to idle. anyway long story short, i found a complete pump/sender unit and had it fitted, the car was feeding the fuel to the rails and still does, but, even though the engine turns over, it will not catch at all, it has only been attempted 5-6 times and the battery is already starting to drain as a result... could it be something so stupidly simple, or should i begin the search for a new car??????

try cleaning the TDC sensor. easy 10 minute job worth a go and could save you £'s. i had a similar problem where the scenic would basically start when it wanted to. the engine would turn over but wouldn't start and had to get it bump started, then other times would start first time. it was doing my head in.. no faults shown when i took it to a garage. google TDC sensor (top dead centre sensor. may work for you

the tdc sensor has already been tried when the fuel pump & sender were replaced, it did nothing at all. engine just will not catch at all... it has a new set of sparks, coils and beyond that the only prob cud be the battery? but even with a booster pack it will not start...
